Tiredmouse FAQ

Northeast Pixel Advertising

The Idea

As the owner of Web Design Newcastle & IT Consultancy Company Onit Solutions based in Newcastle upon Tyne, I created a web site called TiredMouse.com out of frustration at the increasing costs of advertising for small businesses like myself. The Million Dollar Homepage has proven that pixel advertising is the way forward in terms of marketing and is a major money spinner for businesses. A company advertising on The Million Dollar Home Page reported a 40-50% increase in sales within a week, with another recording a massive 19,500 hits to their site in one day.

TiredMouse is a new, innovative and cost effective way to advertise and promote Northeast companies, who have a website but are not sure how to market their business online and make the site earn its keep.

Is this for real or a joke?

This is not a Geordie joke or northern humour! We are completely genuine and want to help other businesses to advertise online at a cost that won’t break the bank, and boost their website’s ranking on search engines like google, through search engine optimization (SEO). The aim of naming our site ‘Tiredmouse.com’ was to make it quirky and ensure it stuck in peoples minds and raise a smile, it’s not a joke!

The Tiredmouse idea?

After sitting staring at the computer screen for over 2 weeks (breaks were included!) brainstorming and trying to find some inspiration, it happened on a cold winter night late in February (2006). We wanted to come up with a name that made you smile and something that you wouldn’t forget. Finally, Kerry said tired mouse! The name stuck as soon as she had mentioned it and the rest is history.

Why should I buy your pixels?

Why not?! We all need to advertise in some shape or form, take a chance and try something new. Ask the people who took a chance on the ‘Million Dollar Homepage’ if they regret their decision to invest in a new initiative. My guess is that it is the best risk they have ever taken!

Join Tiredmouse and your companies logo or chosen image will appear on our homepage and could potentially be seen by millions of people over the coming years. The site will be online for at least three years, that's guaranteed, but the idea is to keep it online forever. The cost works out at just £2.77 a month or 69 pence a week for a 100 Pixels (10x10), can you afford to let this opportunity pass you by?

Why can't I buy one single pixel?

We considered the possibility of selling single pixels however decided that in practice it wouldn't be so effective. Our reasoning behind this was purely due to the tact that 1 pixel is so small that you can’t clearly see anything displayed on it, or click on it to access the website it is linked too. With thousands of random tiny coloured dots all over the place, the homepage would look terrible.

How long will the site be online?

We guarantee that Tiredmouse.com will be live for a minimum of 3 years (starting 1st January 2006). We hope that TiredMouse will prove to be so popular that it is developed into a regional/specialist advertising vehicle and its shelf life will continue well past the three year mark.

  • You may not be able to change the image or link once you have submitted them, so you must be sure of the image & link you want on the homepage, which will be there for a 3 year period. The only exception is if you have a strong reason why you need a change to your image/link, eg. your site no longer exists, major structural change to your site, lawsuits, etc.
  • If your image and link are accepted and published on the homepage, you cannot get a refund
  • The site and homepage will be online for at least 3 years (starting 1st January 2006), but possibly even longer (that's the aim)
  • No obscene/offensive/adult images/links will be accepted, and Tiredmouse decides what is appropriate for the site. If you submit an image or link that is rejected, you will have the opportunity to provide an alternative, otherwise your money will be refunded and you will lose your pixels

  • If for whatever reason in the future you want your image and link removed from the homepage, you can do that, but you will not get a refund and the space will become publically available again
  • Images must be the exact size you have paid for (eg. 100 pixels = 10x10 pixels)
  • Images must be in GIF or JPEG format, and a reasonable file size
  • Images must NOT be animated (imagine how messy the homepage would look)
  • Links must be to web pages only and begin with http://
  • You must have the authority to provide the image and link for the website you submit
  • For purchases of £1000 or more, please forward ten percent to guarantee your pixels and contact admin@tiredmouse.com for further details.
  • Funds must be fully received and cleared before your pixels go live on the homepage
  • There might be occasional downtime for site maintenence but Tiredmouse The Northeast Advertising Team will try to keep these to a minimum
  • Once you have ordered and the funds have cleared (eg. in PayPal or bank account), Tiredmouse will aim to get your pixels online as within 24-48hrs (but please have patience if things kick off and loads of people order at the same time)
